[a ■ <br /> C A M B R I A <br /> ANTICIPATED SECOND QUARTER 2003 ACTIVITIES <br /> Blaine will gauge and sample the site wells according to the existing sampling schedule and <br /> tabulate the data Cambria will prepare a groundwater monitoring report <br /> In order to initiate the site investigation activities detailed in Cambria's December 13, 2002 <br /> Response Letter/Sate Investigation and Third Quarter 2002 Groundwater Monitoring <br /> Report/Work Plan, Shell must obtain two access agreements and a Caltrans encroachment permit <br /> To date, Cambria has received an access agreement for the property south of the site and the <br /> Caltrans encroachment permit Shell has contacted the owners of Teresi Trucking, located east <br /> of the subject site, and they have refused to grant Shell access to the property Per SJCEHD's <br /> request during a May 12, 2003 telephone conversation, Shell will proceed with a portion of the <br /> proposed work and install wells MW-8 through MW-11 (Figure 3) Proposed wells MW-12 and <br /> MW-13 will not be installed at this time, as Shell does not have permission to enter the property <br /> Cambna will schedule the drilling and notify SJCEHD of the field work schedule <br /> Cambria submitted a Response Letter on May 2, 2003, which addresses the requests made in <br /> • SJCEHD's March 21, 2003 correspondence As discussed in Cambria's letter, Shell would like <br /> to quickly implement an interim groundwater remediation program, consisting of periodic <br /> groundwater extraction events This program will be initiated as soon as Shell receives approval <br /> to proceed from SJCEHD <br /> Based on a review of the groundwater contaminant concentration trends, Cambria recommends <br /> that total petroleum hydrocarbon as gasoline, benzene, toluene ethylbenzene and xylene analyses <br /> be reduced from quarterly to annually in all of the site wells This recommendation will be <br /> implemented beginning with the third quarter 2003 sampling event, with permission from <br /> SJCEHD <br /> • <br /> 0955 2 <br />
