A 5/8-inch diameter Teflon disposable bailer was used to collect the water sample within the
hydropunch casing.
Groundwater samples were collected after well purging to assure fresh formation water was
being sampled in wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3. The purging process was monitored by
measuring groundwater conductivity, temperature, and PH using Hydac digital tester.
Following equilibration of the physical groundwater characteristics, and 90 percent of the
predeveloped groundwater elevation had been obtained, a sample was collected by a
] disposable bailer at the air-water interface.
The water samples were placed in three 40 milliliter glass containers (VOA's) and 1-liter
glass jars. The samples were labeled and placed in refrigerator storage for transport under
chain-of-custody to the above mentioned laboratory.
4.6 DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES AND CONTAINMENT OF MATERIALS
Prior to advancement of each soil boring, the augers were decontaminated utilizing
pressurized hot water. Between each sample interval, the sampler and brass or stainless steel
sleeves were decontaminated with an Alconox solution scrub, followed by tap water and final
distilled water rinses.
Drill cuttings, and waste water were contained in labeled, DOT-approved 55-gallon drums
stored onsite for disposal upon receipt of the laboratory test results.
J
r
-a
JN 10007-097-01
4-3
