As
quickly as safety allows, determine the source, identify the hazards associated with that
type of hazardous material and proper personal protective equipment needed, and if
possible, stop the flow.
Responsibilities
- The Terminal Manager is the Terminal Emergency Response Coordinator and is
responsible to see that the Emergency Response Plan is carried out in a prompt and
efficient manner providing all employees instruction in containment, reporting and clean
up.
- All responsibilities and duties must be assigned and everyone must understand their role
in the event of an emergency response situation. The Terminal Manager must also
designate a back-up Emergency Response Coordinator in the event the Terminal Manager
is not available.
- Each employee is to be instructed on his/her reporting and containment responsibilities
as assigned.
spills
- From past experience we know that in spite of the precautions taken there have been
spills in many areas causing damage to the environment and surrounding properties.
Since the location and type of spill can vary so greatly, this plan is presented to furnish
general guidelines to be taken immediately after a spill occurs.
Control the spill
- If a hazardous material spill's source is continuing to leak, then every effort should be
made to stop the flow and lessen the overall release.
Containment at FXI terminal
- After the spill occurs, every effort must be made to keep the product within a limited area
near the source. Prevent the spilled materials from spreading with dikes or booms.
- Following are a few items that will be needed to contain spills and a list of tools to be
readily available in the event of an emergency:
• Case Of Universal Booms
• Sponge Dry Absorbent
• Sponge Mats
• Long Handle Shovel
4
