26 September 2014
AGE Project No. 13-2675
SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes to advance a total of four soil borings at the site. Three soil borings will
be advanced to approximate depths of three (3) feet bsg for collection of soil-vapor
samples; and one soil boring will be advanced to an approximate depth of 40 feet bsg
for collection of soil and groundwater samples. Proposed soil boring locations are
depicted in Figure 1.
Borings will be advanced using a Geoprobe 5400 direct-push probing unit or a
PowerProbe 9600 direct-push probing unit. Soil samples will be collected at five-foot
intervals (for lithologic logging), beginning at five feet bsg from the proposed soil boring
for collection of soil and groundwater samples. Soil samples will not be collected from
the proposed soil-vapor borings. Based on the October 2013 investigation, depth to
groundwater at the site is approximately 35 to 40 feet bsg.
Soil-vapor and groundwater samples will be submitted to a California Department of
Public Health (CDPH)-Certified laboratory and soil-vapor and groundwater samples will
be analyzed for:
• TPH-g in accordance with EPA-method 8015-modified and TO-15; and
• VOCs, including isopropyl alcohol (IPA), in accordance with EPA-method 8260B
and TO-15.
Upon completion of the field work and receipt of laboratory analysis, a brief report will
be prepared. The report will be reviewed and signed by a California Professional
Geologist.
PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable drilling permits will be obtained from the SJCEHD and a site-specific Health
and Safety Plan will be prepared. Prior to mobilization, each soil boring location will be
clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert. The
SJCEHD will be contacted a minimum of five days prior to conducting investigation
activities to arrange for inspection.
FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative working under the
supervision of a California Professional Geologist. Procedures for sample collection and
analysis, equipment decontamination and sample handling are presented below.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
