8. Applied for and submitted an addendum to the original installation permit for the installation of new
double wall contained underground storage tanks this was denied due to the complexity of the change
9. Resubmit a new complete application at your request for the full and complete installation including
product piping, dispensers, under dispenser containment, tank installation and tank trim. Your letter
dated February 2, 2001 requested clarification regarding this application and submittals. Our letter
dated 2-2-2001 clarified all your issues except for those regarding the secondary flex boot attached to
the underside of the Bravo Boxes (under dispenser containment) due to the change in approval brought
on by the State Water Resources Control Board letter dated November 14 Ib 2000
Flex Boot Installation instructions
I would like to address your concerns regarding the flex boots. A lot of time and energy has been spent
to address the concerns of the State Water Resources Control Board letter dated November 14" 2000.
Their only concern was the clamps that connected the flex boots to the fiber glass pipes have the
potential to corrode and ultimately causing the connection to fail due to the unprotected steel clamps
being exposed to backfill.
Bravo Systems has come up with a design change that meets the State Water Resources Control Board
concerns. Following is an excerpt from their Flex Boot installation instructions(see attached)
"After a successful test of the secondary piping system apply white vulkem to complete exterior of the
stainless steel coated clamps approximately '/4 thick."... "Let the sealant form a skin or harden then
backfill with approved peagravel per pipe manufacturer specifications."
As per our conversation of 3-13-01 it is my understanding that this would be an acceptable fix for the
flex boot issue and that your final approval would be forth coming. It is also my understanding that you
would need only a couple of days to review the completed package and to clarify some internal issues.
Again thank you for your,
our patience on these matters
Steve HazdisteTasetl'v
t an
Airy questions l Steve Hardistor @ 1-800-522-7244
