Harding Lawson Associates
May 17, 1988
4167,218.01
San Joaquin County Environmental Health
1601 E. Hazleton Avenue
Stockton, California 95201
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Enclosed is a monitoring well permit application to drill three
wells at the Wickland Oil Company Service Station located at 6425
Pacific Avenue in Stockton, California.
Two borings will be drilled to a maximum depth of 25 feet along
the northwest and southwest property corners identified as MW-1
and MW-2 on the attached Site Plan. If ground water is not
encountered, a soil sample will be collected form each boring from
the soil containing the highest level of petroleum constituents as
determined by field screening with a photoionization detector. If
field screening does not detect petroleum constituents, the soil
sample shall be representative of the soil in the boring. The
soil samples will be analyzed for Benzene, Ethylbenzene, Toluene,
and Xylenes (BETX) and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) . The
borings will be abandoned by grouting to the surface using a cement
and bentonite mixture.
If ground water is encountered above 25 feet, the two borings will
be converted into monitoring wells. An additional well will be
drilled at the location labeled MW-3 on the Site Plan. The wells
will be developed and the ground water flow direction will be
determined. All three wells will then be sampled and analyzed for
BETX.
If you have any questions, please call me at 415/892-0821.
Yours very truly,
HARDING LAWSON ASSOCIATES
Thomas R.
