Page t of 4
Garrett Backus [EH]
From:
Mike Bolt [mikeb@dpm-Ilc.com]
Sent:
Friday, August 07, 2009 5:52 PM
To:
Garrett Backus [EH]
Subject:
RE: Diversified Sump Entry fittings UL Listing
Attachments:
Combined UL files.pdf
Hi Garrett,
Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to your question. I've attached another file that shows more
details about our testing at UL. Hopefully it will address your questions.
URBK means (in DPM language) "Urethane Repair Boot Kit". The " 10-4.6x2.0" means 10 stud repair
boot with a 4.6" to 2.0" reducer. The "Kit" includes the clamps, tech screws, & instructions.
We use a product in the Urethane family called "Pellethane" as the base material for what we call our
"Fuel -Thane" (DPM Language again). The exact formula of Pellethane is described on page 3 of the
attached file. We used "U" before the "RBK" because it was less letters for the part number. This
material is important to the repair boots because it can be split & bonded back together with our DBB III
(or Zip-Tite) solvent welder.
On page 4, we show the letter from UL stating our "Split Repair Boots" have passed UL testing and
were to be UL Listed. (to this day we are not sure why UL choose that wording and was not more
specific about the part numbers associated the parts in the "Split Repair" parts.)
On page 6, we show a page that shows they tested our "4S-1.1 Split Bulkhead boot" bonded back
together with our "DBB III bonder" and then filled with our "DBF 11" on various surfaces and the results
of that testing.
The "Repair Boot" is the key part in the split repair kit is made from Fuel -Thane, which can be "solvent
welded" back together and is the key part in the "split repair' process. The "4S-1.1 Split Bulkhead boot"
being solvent welded back together & passing the testing, implies that all the repair boots "pass' as
they are manufactured using the same materials & processes.
I hope this helps, if not give me a call.
And thanks for trying to set up a meeting.
Regards,
Mike Bolt
Diversified Products Manufacturing Inc.
Territory Manager —CA, OR, WA
530-534-3966 Office
530-680-6084 Cell
mikeb@dpm-Ilc.com
www.dpm-llc.com
From: Garrett Backus [EH] [mailto:gbackus@sjcehd.com]
Sent: Friday, August 07, 2009 3:47 PM
To: Mike Bolt
8/13/2009
