We need the primary diesel product line to be tested to show whether it
is leaking. Since we know that the diesel line secondary containment failed the secondary tightness test last year,
it is possible that diesel is leaking into the ground.
One way to do the primary test is to program the Veeder Root monitoring panel and electronic line leak detector
to run this test. The test must be done when the station is not operating so typically it is run late at night. The
monitoring panel can be programmed remotely to automatically run a 0.1 gallon per hour test.
If the monitoring panel cannot be programmed to do this test then a technican with tank tester certification can run
the line test with testing equipment.
Garrett Backus, REHS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
600 E.
