t <br /> W <br /> Working to Restore Nature <br /> 1710 Main Street E <br /> Escalon, CA 95320 <br /> Phone (209)838-3507 SEP 0 8 1992 <br /> FAX (209)838-3509 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH <br /> PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> September 4, 1992 <br /> Mr Harlan Knoll <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P O Box 2009 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> RE Quarterly Monitoring Report, Heinz Facility, 757 East Eleventh Street, Tracy, CA <br /> Dear Mr Knoll <br /> During the third quarter 1992 quarterly monitoring/sampling was conducted at the above <br /> referenced site (Figure 1) In addition to regular quarterly activities monitoring well MWl was <br /> located and abandoned <br /> On June S, 1992, RESNA Industries, in conjunction with our client, implemented the use of a <br /> ground penetrating radar to locate the missing monitoring well (MW1) During radar readings <br /> a soil lithology anomaly was noted by the Spectrum ESI technician Analysis of the anomaly <br /> revealed lithology which is consistent with monitoring well installation soil changes After <br /> analysis of the data a backhoe was used to excavate the suspected well location Several large <br /> chunks of bentonite, sand and a 2 inch hole where the casing had been located was found during <br /> backhoe digging The hole had caved in to within approximately 8 feet of the surface This <br /> former well boring was backfilled with bentonite and native soil, and has since been paved over <br /> with asphalt The hole was backfilled with cutting in an expedient manner due to safety <br /> considerations The former location for MW 1 was located in the trucking firm driveway The <br /> location of the abandoned well is shown on Figure 2 RESNA Industries requests approval of <br /> the abandonment of well MW 1 <br /> QR081792 DRP <br />
