Mr Harlan Knoll May 04, 1992
RE Heinz Facility - Tracy Page 2
The water samples collected from wells MM2 and MW3 were analyzed for benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), by EPA method 8020, total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPHG), and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHD) by modified EPA method 8015
Dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected above method detecion limits in either
MW2 nor MW3. Analytical data is presented on Table 2 The laboratory data sheet, chain-of-
custody, and monitoring data are included as Attachment 1
Since the area has been newly capped with asphalt and most of the contaminated soil has been
removed, any remaining contaminated vadose soils would not appear to be a significant threat
to groundwater Therefore additional excavation is not warranted, particularly considering the
physical restrictions involved
RESNA Industries, in conjunction with our client, is considering implementing the use of a
ground penetrating radar to attempt to locate the missing monitoring well (MW1) Thus far our
client has excavated 150 square foot area and utilized a metal detector in an attempt to locate
the well
The next monitoring will take place in July of 1992 We will again include gradients from
several nearby previously mentioned saes to verify the local gradient direction A monitoring
report will be submitted when all the sampling analytical results are received
If you have any questions or comments please contact me at our Escalon office at 209/838-3507
Respectfully,
RESNA Industries
Lois Frantz
Staff Geologist
Nora H Kataoka
CA Registered Civil Engineer No. 38322
LF/gk
Attachments
PC: Nick Kosta, WJ Trucking
RWQCB - Central Valley Region, Jim Maughan
• LR050492 LF
