Former Heinz USA 26 January 2010
757 W. Eleventh St. Page 2 of 2
EHD staff have reviewed 2009 Annual Ground Water Monitoring Results, dated 18
January 2010, prepared by ERM and have the following comments:
1. Ground water samples collected 5 November 2009 from Site1 and Site2
locations remain impacted by elevated concentrations of TPH-g and BTEX.
2. Ground water sample results from .MW4 at Site1 were: TPH-g 20,000
micrograms per liter (ug/L), toluene 135 ug/L, ethylbenzene 1,030 ug/I, and total
xylene 2,160 ug/L.
3. Ground water sample results from MW6 at Site2 were: TPH-g 3,290 ug/L,
benzene 93 ug/L, toluene 13.8 ug/L, ethylbenzene 66.4 ug/L, and total xylene
74.9 ug/L.
4. Ground water contaminant concentrations are too high to be acceptable for site
closure. Implementation of a remedial technology for ground water cleanup is
warranted at your site.
5. The potential for residual petroleum hydrocarbon in soil and ground water to
migrate into nearby buildings and/or other receptors must be evaluated and
reported to the EHD.
Please submit a corrective action feasibility study work plan and a vapor intrusion
evaluation work plan to EHD by 30 March 2010.
If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please contact Harlin Knoll at
(209) 468-3442.
/C-q
Harlin Knoll, REHS Nuel C.
