This letter presents the results of ground water sampling performed on
2 September 1999 at the former Heinz facility (site) m Tracy,California
° Ground water samples were collected from six monitoring wells at the
site during this sampling event This sampling event is the second event
a performed to evaluate chemical concentrations in ground water at two
x
former underground storage tank (UST) release sites following the
R injection(week of 7 June 1999) of oxygen releasing compound (ORC)
A y f
-' The ground water samples were analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) (EPA Method 8015), benzene, toluene,
Yz ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) (EPA Method 8020), and methyl
tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) (EPA Method 8020) The ground water
sampling analytical results are summarized in Tables 1 and 2
(Attachment A) Copies of the laboratory analytical results and well
sampling data are included as Attachments B and C, respectively
9 it kl[r^! z q
lie{: 4^ire is^i US['1
......gi=;y, Ground water sampling results for wells surrounding former UST 1 are
presented in Table 1 Although the concentrations of-PH-g and BTEX
iw compounds detected in downgradient well MW-1 have remained
relatively stable since ORC injection (June and September 1999), this
sampling event has shown an increase since the last sampling and are
t[ K K4 P
similar to the concentrations detected prior to ORC injection(April 1999)
In general, historical sampling of this well has produced unstable results
but indicates an overall decreasing trend
s t ss xat aF , e
Ns^N1
