Environmental <br /> Mr Harlin Knoll Resources <br /> 22 January 1999 <br /> Management <br /> Page 3 <br /> PROPOSED SCOPE OF ADDITIONAL WORK <br /> Based on the comments made by the County and RWQCB, ERM <br /> prepared the scope of work presented below <br /> ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION <br /> In accordance with County and RWQCB comments, ERM proposes to <br /> perform soil and ground water sampling at locations around former tank <br /> locations UST-1 and UST-2 <br /> ERM proposes to install three soil borings surrounding the former <br /> location of UST-1 to <br /> O Determine the vertical extent of TPH-g and BTEX impacts at UST-1, <br /> and <br /> G Better define the horizontal extent of TPH-g and BTEX compounds <br /> surrounding UST-1 <br /> The location of the proposed borings is shown in Figure 1 As shown, <br /> ERM proposes to install one boring(HB-17) between momtoring wells <br /> MW-1 and MW4 This boring will be installed to determine the vertical <br /> extent of chemical impacts downgradient of UST-1 and confirm the <br /> hydrogeology it the area of UST-1 Two additional borings (HB-18 and <br /> HB-19) will be installed east and west of the former UST location These <br /> borings will be installed to determine the lateral extent of impacts to soil <br /> and ground water, the vertical impacts to soil and ground water, and the <br /> hydrogeology of the area HB-18 will be installed between HB-15 and the <br /> building to the east HB-19 will be located west of boring UST 1-5 <br /> ERM proposes to install one soil boring downgradient of the former <br /> location of UST-2 The location of the proposed borings is shown in <br /> Figure 2 As shown, ERM proposes to install the boring (HB-20) between <br /> morutornng wells MW-2 and MW-6 This boring will be installed to <br /> determine the vertical extent of impacts downgradient of UST-2 and <br /> confirm the hydrogeology in the area of UST-2 <br /> 10 <br /> Each of the borings will be continuously sampled from ground surface to <br /> a total depth of at least 20 ft bgs Soil samples from each boring will be <br /> logged by an ERM registered geologist for lithologic interpretation <br /> according to the uniform soil classification system One soil sample will <br />
