Mr Harlin Knoll Environmental
Resources
22 January 1999
Page 3 Management
l
PROPOSED SCOPE OF ADDITIONAL WORK
Based on the comments made by the County and RWQCB, ERM
prepared the scope of work presented below
ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION
In accordance with County and RWQCB comments, ERM proposes to
perform soil and ground water sampling at locations around former tank
locations UST-1 and UST-2
ERM proposes to install three soil borings surrounding the former
location of UST-1 to
® Determine the vertical extent of TPH-g and BTEX impacts at UST-1,
and
w
o Better define the horizontal extent of TPH--g and BTEX compounds
surrounding UST-1
The location of the proposed borings is shown in Figure 1 As shown,
ERM proposes to install one boring(HB-17) between monitoring wells
MW-1 and MW-4 This boring will be installed to determine the vertical
extent of chemical impacts downgradient of UST-1 and confirm the
hydrogeology in the area of UST-1 Two additional borings (HB-18 and
HB-19) will be installed east and west of the former UST location These
borings will be installed to determine the lateral extent of impacts to soil
and ground water, the vertical impacts to soil and ground water, and the
hydrogeology of the area HB-18 will be installed between HB-15 and the
building to the east HB-19 will be located west of boring UST 1-5
ERM proposes to install one soil boring downgradient of the former
location of UST-2 The location of the proposed borings is shown in
Figure 2 As shown, ERM proposes to install the boring (HB-20) between
monitoring wells MW-2 and MW-6 This boring will be installed to
determine the vertical extent of impacts downgradient of UST-2 and
confirm the hydrogeology in the area of UST-2
• Each of the borings will be continuously sampled from ground surface to
a total depth of at least 20 ft bgs Soil samples from each boring will be
logged by an ERM registered geologist for lithologic interpretation
according to the uniform soil classification system One soil sample will
