Environmental <br /> � Resources <br /> A[ i ;, Management <br /> E, <br /> 1777 Botelho Drive <br /> 39 Suite 260 <br /> Walnut Creek,CA 94596 <br /> (925)946-0455 <br /> 10 December 1998 (925)946-9968(Fax) <br /> Harlin Knoll <br /> Public Health Services <br /> San Joaquin County <br /> 304 E Weber Avenue, Third Floor E <br /> Stockton, CA 95201-0388 <br /> Subject Soil and Ground Water Sampling Results <br /> Former Heinz Facility <br /> Tracy, California <br /> Dear Mr Knoll <br /> This letter presents the results of soil and ground water samples collected <br />. at the former Heinz facility (the site) in Tracy, California Soil samples <br /> ' were collected during the installation of 4 ground water monitoring wells <br /> at the site on 10 November 1998 Ground water samples were collected <br /> from the 4 new monitoring wells and 2 existing monitoring wells on 16 <br /> November 1998 In accordance with the 4 November 1998 workplan, the <br /> soil samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline <br /> (TPH-g) (EPA Method 8015), total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel <br /> (TPH-d) (EPA Method 8015), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and <br /> xylenes (BTEX) (EPA Method 8020) The ground water samples were <br /> analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-d, BTEX, and oxygenated compounds (EPA <br /> Method 8260) <br /> The soil sampling results are presented in Table 1 (attached) As shown, <br /> the samples collected at MW-3, MW-5, and MW-6 contained no <br /> detectable concentrations of TPH-g, TPH-d, or BTEX The sample <br /> collected at MW-4 contained detectable concentrations of TPH-g and <br /> toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes <br /> The ground water sampling results are presented in Tables 2 and 3 <br /> (attached) As shown, the samples collected from the two wells located <br /> upgradient of the former tank locations (MW-3 and MW-5) contained no <br /> i� detectable concentrations of compounds The concentration of TPH-g <br /> and BTEX compounds in the downgradient wells (MW-1 and MW-2) <br /> were consistent with previous sampling results As anticipated, the <br /> concentrations of TPH-g and BTEX compounds in the wells installed <br />
