(AGE) on your behalf for the above-referenced site. In the
work plan addendum, AGE proposes to install one shallow ozone injection point between
monitoring wells MW-2 and MW-3 to inject ozone to reduce concentrations of contaminants of
concern that are adsorbed to soil and dissolved in groundwater for remediation of this site. AGE
proposes to collect soil samples beginning at approximately forty-five feet below surface grade
(bsg) for proper screen placement between approximately forty-eight and fifty feet bsg. AGE may
select soil samples for analysis for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g);
benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX); methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), di-
isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME),
tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) by a
California Department of Public Health-certified laboratory.
The EHD approves the work plan addendum as submitted; however, before a boring permit
application may be submitted to the EHD for the additional ozone injection point, you must provide
documentation that ozone injection is not degrading groundwater or aquifer quality at this site. In
Quarterly Report— Fourth Quarter 2008 dated January 12, 2009, AGE reported that groundwater
samples collected from MW-3 were non-detect for total chromium, hexavalent chromium,
bromate, and bromide; however, the reporting limits for bromate and bromide were 500
micrograms per liter (pg/L), well above the maximum contaminant level (MCL) of 10 pgiL for
bromate. Bromate and bromide must be reported at 10 pgiL to assess the effects of ozone
injection. Submit these results to the EHD by February 1, 2010.
For site closure consideration, the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board is
requiring a soil vapor intrusion evaluation. Submit an evaluation of the potential for vapor
intrusion into structures at this site to the EHD by February 1, 2010. Residual contaminant
