In addition, I wanted to respond to the EHD-prepared letter dated 02 January 2008.
-AGE concurs with the EHD's recommendation to relocate the CPT boring approximately twelve feet south of the
location proposed in the AGE-prepared Work Plan Addendum dated 19 November 2007.
AGE provides the following comments to the EHD-question slstatements:
"How many pounds of ozone are currently being injected daily?"
According to the manufacturer, Aries Tek, the ozone sparge system at Stefano's (EnviroSparge 11), injects
one pound of ozone into the subsurface per day; however this figure does not account for downtime
between cycles. The EnviroSparge II injects ozone into ozone wells at a rate of 130 minutes per well per
cycle. At the cessation of a cycle, the EnviroSparge 11 has a downtime of 20 minutes. Utilizing the existing
three ozone wells at the site, 390 minutes of the cycle is attributed to injecting ozone into each well at
increments of 130 minutes. Following the 390-minute cycle, the system has a downtime of 20 minutes.
Therefore, the system completes approximately 3.5 cycles per day with an approximate average
downtime of 70 minutes per day. Accounting for downtime, the EnviroSparge 11 injects approximately 0.95
pounds of ozone into the subsurface per day.
"Would the ozone generator system be upgraded to accommodate the three new sparge points?"
According to the manufacturer, Aries Tek, the EnviroSparge ll, is a 10-point injection system, meaning it
can accommodate up to 10 wells. Installing the proposed three additional ozone wells at the site would
bring the total number of ozone wells at the site to 6. Therefore, AGE will not upgrade the system at
Stefano's if the three additional ozone wells are installed.
-"Provide hours and percentage of time the ozone is operational in quarterly ground water monitoring
reports."
AGE will provide this data with a table of ozone operation parameters beginning with the fourth quarter
2007 monitoring event.
If the three proposed ozone wells are approved, AGE proposes an injection time per well to a minimum of one
hour. Utilizing six ozone wells at the site, at a minimum injection time of one hour per well, including a 20-minute
downtime period at the cessation of the well injections, the EnviroSparge 11 would complete approximately 3.75
cycles per day. This cycle rate would produce an approximate average downtime of 75 minutes per day.
Accounting for downtime, the proposed-injection cycle would inject approximately 0.95 pounds of ozone into the
subsurface per day.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your time, and
have an excellent weekend.
3/4/2008
