Well and prober Installation Procedures
The vapor extractlorl wells and vapor monitoring probes will be installed using hollowstem drilling methods. Each
well or probe will be Installed in a borehole to the depth shown, The wells will be installed under approved
PHS EHD permits and the work will be supervised by a registered geologist.
i ha 818 has been logged and the site stratigraphy has been mapped. Sample iithologic logging will be
performed to verify strata contacts to install the well slots at the desired depth interval,
I Tin ooreholes will be advanced by drilling to the desired depth with pre-cleaned hollowstem augers. Augers,
sampling tools and rods will be cleaned after each borehole and prior to leaving the site_ SoR logging for
6 contsct verification will use the Unified Soil Classification System(USCS) using a split-spoon soil sampler
i0vanwd at the deelfee depth. A peelogist will lop the soil and retain samples as Fweded. It soil samples
aro retained, they will be collected in clean brass liners completely driven to completely till the liners in the sampler drive.
"he soil sample will be taken from the split-spoon, sealed with Teflon paper or foil, capped with plastic
! ondplugs, logged onto a chain-of-custody form and packed of crushed ice for shipment of the laboratory.
}
Eac.Pi well or probe will be constructed in the appropriate borehole The wells will use Schedule 00 PVC
using as shown. The casing will use threaded''amts and glues will not be used. The casing will be cut to the
',-ngtli end threaded together and lowered into the hailowstern augers. The slotted intervals will use 0.020 slots
I ,7,1a;hlne cut at the factory. Once the casing is set, an aquarium sand pack will be placed around the casing
annular space using the hollowstem auger as a tremie pipe. The sand pack will be placed to a point about 2-feet
soave the slotted Interval. A bentonite clay spacer will be placed atop the sand pack and hydrated prior to the
carrant grout placement to prevent grout Invasion into the send pack. A cement ground seal wili then be placed atop
thq bentonite clay end raised to the surface from the bottom to the top of each borehole using the
`olicwsterrl augers as a tremle pipe.
traffic rated bcking well vault box will complete each extraction well head and vapor probe access.
M*engineer will modify the box as needed to set the vapor sampling porta, magnahelix gauges and other eq►,ipment
,r r:eaded for the vapor test and probe measurements andlcr for further vapor extraction from the wells.
i
k
E}
f
I
4
Z
I
r
tp
P
8
i
C Vapor Extract!loh Well and
Vapor Probe Specifications
t orej.
