2 2 4 Waste Management
Waste soil, equipment rinsate water and purged groundwater generated during the drilling
operations were contained in separate 55-gallon drums The drums were labeled and temporarily
stored on-site, pending waste profiling and proper disposal or recycling On the date of
publication of this report, final disposition of the wastewater and soil is still pending Final waste
disposal will be documented separately
23 Magnetic Survey of Former UST Excavation
On January 13, 1999, Wright performed a magnetic survey of the site and former UST excavation
The survey was conducted with a MAC 51 B magnetic and cable locator over a two-foot grid,
across the site
Results of the magnetic survey indicate that three areas of strong magnetic detection at depths
greater than two feet exist at the site Strong magnetic signals were detected in a 10-foot by 10-
foot area in the northeast quadrant of the former UST excavation, in a 6-foot by 6-foot area near
the center of the former UST excavation, and in a 5-foot by 5-foot area immediately outside the
southwest corner of the former UST excavation This metallic debris may represent drums of
waste soil and/or water unaccounted for from previous investigation activities and/or other
material used to backfill the former UST excavation A map illustrating the areas of strong
magnetic detection is included as Figure 3
i9
1
