L
Interim+ Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot Test Report
Former STEFANO'S GAS STATION
1419 East Charter Way, Stockton, Cahfornia ,
' 1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mrs Winifred Alexander, executor of Mary Gardella Trust, Advanced
' V GeoEnvironmental,Inc (AGE)has prepared this report for the property located at 1419 East Charter
Way, Stockton,California The report documents the procedures and results of an interim soil vapor
extraction pilot test The site and the surrounding area are illustrated on Figure 1, on-site structures
' and well locations are illustrated on Figure 2 Site background information, including the site history,
and descriptions and results of previous investigations are detailed in the AGE-prepared Well
' Installation and Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot Test Report, dated 30 August 2004
,All'field work procedures and reporting requirements are in accordance with guidelines issued by
the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board(CVRWQCB)fotr subsurface investigation
' of underground storage tank(UST)system sites Interim soil vapor extraction and ozone pilot study
procedures for the site were described in the AGE-prepared Interim Remediation Work Plan dated
' 14 September 2004, and approved by EHD by letter dated 26 October 2004
2.0. PROCEDURES
19 1
Between 02 November 2004 and 03 June 2005, an SVE remediation system was continuously
' operated at the site, utilizing a regenerative vacuum blower to selectively apply an induced vacuum
to vapor-extraction wells VW-1 through VW-5 SVE procedures for the site were described in the
September 2004 Interim Remediation Work Plan
2 1 FREMEDIATION SYSTEM PROCEDURES
The SVE systeiri utilized a TCAT thermal/catalytic oxidizer to volatilize and extract adsorbed ,
hydrocarbon vapor from the subsurface A manifold network of two-inch diameter, schedule 80 PVC
' piping was installed underground from wells'VW-1 through VW-5 to the inlet of a moisture
knockout drum, the outlet of thv moisture knockout drum was routed to the SVE unit
=A Magnehelic vacuum gauge was attached to the inlet line of the SVE system, air flow was
monitored at the inlet using a Dwyer DS-200 flow sensor A flow rate was determined from the
' measured differential pressure and the piping diameter using a nomograph (Appendix A)
In order to monitor the efficiency of hydrocarbon removal 1)the SVE air flow of the influent stream
' was monitored routinely utilizing an organic vapor analyzer(OVA), and 2) influent air flow vapor
stream sample was collected from sampling ports installed upstream (influent) of the SVE system
Sand analyzed Field measurements were recorded at regular intervals and are summarized in Table I
' + Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
7
r
