f
Mr Michael Infurna
. Page 2
Prior to sampling, monitoring wells MWl through MW3 were purged of a minimum of three well
casing volumes During the purging process, the physical parameters of temperature, pH and
electrical conductivity were measured During the purging of well MW3, a slight sheen was noted
Samples were collected after the physical parameters had stabilized and water levels had recovered
to at least 95% of pre-purge levels Purge water was contained in appropriately labeled DOT-
approved 55-gallon drums The drums are currently being stored onsite Purge logs are included
in Attachment A
Groundwater samples were delivered under chain of custody protocol to Argon Laboratories
(FLAP#2359) for the analysis of BTEX using EPA method 8020, TPHg and TPHd using modified
EPA method 8015, gasoline oxygenate additives using EPA method 8260, and dissolved lead using
EPA method B200 9
Groundwater Analytical Results
TPHg, TPHd, BTEX, and gasoline oxygenate additives were not detected above their
respective method detection limits (MDLs) in wells MW1 and MW2 Dissolved lead was not
detected in any sample
Benzene and toluene were not detected above MDLs in well MW3 No gasoline oxygenate
additives were detected in this well except for methyl tent butyl ether (MTBE), which was
present at a concentration of 860 parts per billion (ppb) TPHg was detected at a concentration
of 800 ppb, and TPHd was detected at a concentration of 2,200 ppb Analytical results are
summarized in Table 2 Attachment B contains laboratory reports and chain of custody
documentation Graphs of TPHg, TPHd and MTBE concentrations in MW3 over time are
included in Attachment C
Summary
• Groundwater levels at the site fell since the previous round of sampling During this event
groundwater flowed in an easterly direction, however, flow direction at the site has
historically been inconsistent
• TPHg, TPHd, BTEX and gasoline oxygenate additives continue to be at non-detectable
levels in wells MW1 and MW2, and benzene was not detected in well MW3 for the third
consecutive event
• TPHg, TPHd and MTBE concentrations decreased in well MW3 during this quarter
• Dissolved lead was not detected in the samples collected from any of the monitoring wells
Conclusions
iGroundwater flow direction remains variable at the site
NGZA_FslsYsoi\DntaIGRouNDzE1WO0ISEY CIMQMR1200213QM2002 doc
