r
March 16, 1988 `
r- . i 1
r
Roberts Oil Company
Page 8
California certified analytical laboratory. All soil cuttings generated by the
borehole drilling and sampling operations will be drummed and stored onsite.
Should the laboratory analyses indicate that the soils encountered during the
drilling and sampling operations be contaminated, it shall be the
responsibility of Roberts Oil Company to properly dispose of the
contaminated soils. Exceltech can assist Roberts Oil Company in making
arrangements for the transportation and proper disposal of contaminated
soils on a time and material cost basis.
Additional ground water quality monitoring wells (up to 3) will be installed
in selected boreholes upgradient and downgradient from the transfer
block/loading area, for the purpose of determining the intensity and lateral
extent of refined petroleum product contaminated ground water, and to
better define the hydraulic gradient and ground water flow direction. The
ground water quality monitoring wells to be installed will be completed in
the soil sampling boreholes drilled and sampled under Task 4. Exceltech will
obtain the necessary Permits to install the ground water quality monitoring
wells from the County of San Joaquin Local Health District (SJLHD). SJLHD
regulations require that the placement of sanitary grout seals be inspected
by a County employed inspector at the expense of the Owner of the Work.
Further, Roberts Oil Company will be required to sign an Authorization to
Release Analytical Results, Geotechnical Data and Site Assessment
Information to the SJLHD prior to installing the ground water quality
monitoring wells. All well screen/casing strings will be thoroughly steam
cleaned prior to insertion in the borehole. All wel! construction materials
(gravel pack, bentonite, and cement) will be stockpiled away from drilling
activities on plastic sheeting to prevent contamination.
When the desired drilling depth has been reached, PVC casing, well screen,
gravel pack, and bentonite seal will be installed inside the hollow stem
auger string. After installation of well construction materials, the hollow
stem auger string will be removed, leaving ithe completed well installation
in the borehole. The cement/bentonite grout seal will then be tremied into
place in the presence of a SJI.HD Inspector.
