• Mr Michael Infurna
ranged from 9 71 to 9 81 feet below mean sea level Groundwater flowed in a northwesterly direction
with a hydraulic gradient of approximately 0 006 ft/ft Groundwater elevations are summarized in
Table 3 A potentiometnc surface map generated using the November 22, 1999 well monitoring data
is depicted on Figure 4 Groundwater monitoring logs are included in Attachment A
On November 22, 1999, the new wells were developed by surging and bailing until turbidity was
minimized Temperature, pH, and electrical conductivity were measured during the well development
process Purge water was placed into DOT approved 55-gallon drums, which are currently stored on
site pending disposal Groundwater samples were collected from each well after groundwater
recovery The samples were submitted to Argon Laboratory for analysis of TPHd, TPHg, BTEX, and
gasoline oxygenate additives
RESULTS
Subsurface Conditions
Borings MW MW2 and MW3 were drilled to depths of approximately 30 feet below ground surface
(bgs) The borings were subsequently constructed into groundwater monitoring wells
The stratigraphy of borings MW 1 and MW2 was dominated by silts and clays from the surface to
20 5/24 feet bgs, and from the surface to 25 5/29 feet bgs , respectively Core samples were not
collected for the first 24 feet in boring MM3 (Samples have previously been collected to a depth
of 20 feet bgs in this area, and stratigraphy of boring MW3 generally correlates to classified soils
from previous investigations at the site ) Soil identified in the drill cuttings was composed of silt
and clay to approximately 12 5 feet bgs Pea gravel fill material was then encountered and
subsequently terminated at approximately 20 feet bgs Cuttings from 20 to 24 feet bgs were
classified as silty clay In borings MWI and MM3, poorly graded sand underlies the finer grained
soils In boring MW2, the underlying soil being more clay rich was classified as poorly graded
sand with clay The maximum depth explored in these borings was approximately 3 0 5 feet bgs
Groundwater was first encountered at a depth of approximately 25 feet bgs in borings MW2 and
MW3, and approximately 24 feet bgs in boring MW 1 Static water level was measured at
approximately 14 5, 15 and 15 5 feet bgs in MM3, MW1 and MW2, respectively
No petroleum odors were noted in the samples collected from borings MW 1 and MW2 FID readings
from these samples ranged from non-detectable levels to 1 part per Mahon(ppm)
Petroleum hydrocarbon odors characterized as moderate to strong were observed in samples collected
from boring MW3 from 24 feet bgs to a depth of approximately 30 5 feet bgs FID meter readings
were 400 ppm and 2,000 ppm
wooiseyctveports\sununary dGc
