Charter Way, Stockton, CA; Site Code: 1988
3 L0
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
This letter report has been prepared by RESNA Industries, Inc. (RESNA) on behalf of Holt
Bros. to propose interim mitigation measures for groundwater contamination at the above
referenced site (Figure 1). This workplan has been prepared in response to January 4, 1993
correspondence from San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD).
BACKGROUND
In May of 1988, seven underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the site (Figure
2). During removal of the USTs evidence of soil contamination was noted. The initial
investigation conducted by Dames & Moore included the installation of four monitoring wells
(MWI, MW2, MW3, and MW4). Soil samples collected from MW1 exhibited elevated levels
of gasoline hydrocarbons. No contamination of soils was found during the installation of wells
MW2, MW3, or MW4. Groundwater samples collected from wells MW 1 and MW2 contained
petroleum hydrocarbons and halogenated volatile organic hydrocarbons. No dissolved
contaminants were detected in wells MW3 and MW4.
Phase 11 site investigations (September 1989) conducted by Bio National Corporation in
conjunction with Dames & Moore included the drilling of five soil borings, with the completion
of two borings as groundwater monitoring wells (MW5 and MW6). Petroleum hydrocarbons
were detected in soil borings SB5 and MW6. Groundwater contamination was not detected in
wells MW5 and MW6.
L021093.IPL
