Site History:
The site located at 681 E. Lockeford St. Lodi (see Figurel for site location) was
purchased in March of 1951 by Claude C. Wood Co. and has been used as an equipment
fleeting and maintainence facility since that time. Cessation and closure of business
activities have been ongoing since late 1992. In 1993, previous contractors performed
primary demolition of buildings and other structures including the removal of an above
ground tank farm located immediately west of the structure labeled "Repair Shop"( see
Figure 2). During removal of surface concrete structures within the above ground tank
farm containment area in April of 1994, we discovered a previously undisclosed
underground waste oil tank of approximately 400-500 gallons capacity. A small localized
area of stained soils consistent with that of waste oil was observed around what appeared
to be the fill pipe(confined to a couple cubic feet of soil). The following work plan is to
address the removal of the waste oil tank and remediation of any affected subsurface soils.
Scope of Work:
The following is an outline of tasks to be performed during the removal of a 400-500
gallon waste oil tank located at 681 E. Lockeford St. Lodi:
Inert tank atmosphere.
Excavate and stockpile overburden and surrounding soils to
facilitate tank removal.
Remove and dispose of tank off-site at an approved facility.
Sample soils underlying tank location following protocol set forth by San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD).
Excavate and stockpile soils visually contaminated with Petroleum
Hydrocarbons.
Stockpile soils for on-site Bioremediation or load and haul soils to an approved
off-site disposal facility.
Backfill excavation.
Submittal of a final summary report.
