Closure Summary Report - August 1997 <br /> Former Rental Machinery <br /> 1821 East Charter Way, Stockton,,California <br /> 1.0. INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF WORK = <br /> In accordance with your request, Advanced GeoEnvironmentai, Inc. (AGE) has prepared the <br /> ,y enclosed Closure Summary Report (CSR) for the former underground storage tank (UST) area at <br /> 1821 East Charter Way, Stockton, California(the site). The scope of work included installation of <br /> one soil probe boring for sampling ground water and soil to assess hydrocarbon impact on the two <br /> +i• media. The location of the site is illustrated in Figure 1. A plane of the site is illustrated on Figure 2. <br /> Sampling procedures and analysis were performed in accordance Jvith guidelines for investigation <br /> of underground storage tank(UST)sites established by both the San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and'the Central Valley Regional Water <br /> Quality Control Board(CVRWQCB). <br /> 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> 2.1. SITE LOCATION AND.DESCRIPTION <br /> The site is located in an`area of flat topography with commercial use in east Stockton, California, <br /> ' at an approximate elevation of 25 feet above mean sea level.`The site-is.bounded on the north by <br /> Mormon Slough,on the south by Charter Way,and on the east and west by industrial properties. The <br /> property was formerly occupied by Rental Machinery Company, Inc.-and is presently occupied by <br /> a steel fabricator. <br /> 2.2. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL <br /> One 5,000-gallon diesel UST and the associated product piping were removed from the site in May <br /> 1990. Two soil samples were collected from beneath the UST: soil sample was collected from the <br /> north and south ends of the excavation floor. <br /> LA„ The samples were transported to A.State certified laboratory and analyzed for total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons quantified as diesel (TPH-d)and volatile aromatics (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene <br /> and xylenes: BTE&X). TPH-d was detected in the sample-collected.from the south end of the <br /> L excavation at 8,080 parts per million(ppm); ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in the same <br /> sample at concentrations of 9.61 and 84.14 ppm, respectively, - <br /> 2.3. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC SETTING ~ <br /> The site is located in the eastern portion of the Great Valley geomorphic province of California. The <br />
