 M
GEOMATRIX
Ms. Amy Terrell
California Regional Water Quality Control Board
January 30, 2002
Page 2
Existing Shallow Wells Proposed Shallow Wells
MW-12 TW-B (MW-26)
MW-13 TW-D (MW-27)
MW-14 TW-F (MW-28)
MW-23 MW-23
MW-25 MW-25
Existing Intermediate Proposed Intermediate
Wells Wells
MW-22 MW-22
MW-24 MW-24
Because MW-12, MW-14, TW-A, and TW-C are within lots that Bridgeport plans to develop,
they need to be destroyed before development is completed. Monitoring well MW-13 and
temporary wells TW-E and TW-G are close to and provide data similar to TW-B, TW-D, and
TS-F, respectively, and do not appear to be necessary for long-term monitoring of
groundwater. As such,we propose to obtain well destruction permits from the San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department and destroy MW-12, MW-13,MW-14, TW-A,
TW-C, TW-E, and TW-G. TW-B, TW-D and TW-F would be renamed MW-26, MW-27, and
MW-28 and would be incorporated into the long-term monitoring well network. Intermediate
zone monitoring wells MW-22 and MW-24 (not shown on Figure 1) are adjacent to MW-23
and MW-25, respectively. No change is proposed for intermediate zone wells.
Geomatrix hereby requests the Regional Board's approval to replace the existing monitoring
network with the proposed monitoring well network. Upon receipt of your approval,we will
coordinate with representatives of Bridgeport, apply for permits with the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department to destroy MW-12, MW-13, MW-14, TW-A, TW-C, TW-
E, and TW-G, and work with Bridgeport to finish well heads for MW-26, MW-27, and MW-
28 consistent with the proposed development. Ideally, we would like the Regional Board's
approval for this request before March 1, 2002, so that the new monitoring network will be in
place for the first trimester 2002 monitoring event scheduled for March 2002.
If you have any questions or comments on this proposal, please call either of the undersigned.
Sincerely yours,
GEOMATRIX CONSULTANTS, INC. 2
Timothy G. Souther, REA II David M. Bean, R.G.
Principal Environmental Scientist Senior Hydrogeologist
5352J3.d«
