David Atwater of Van De Pol Enterprises, Advanced
' GeoEnvironmental,Inc.(AGE)has prepared the enclosed Closure Summary Report(CSR)for 1904
West Charter Way, Stockton, California(the site). The scope of work.was to summarize the soil and
ground water investigations of the former underground storage tank (UST) areas at the site in
preparation for site closure..The location of the site is illustrated in Figure 1 - Location Map.
Significant features of the site are illustrated in Figure 2 - Site Plan. v
This report is prepared in accordance with the guidelines established by the Tri-Regional Board and
San Joaquin County Public Health Department - Environmental Health Division (PHS -EHD) for
investigation of underground storage tank(UST) sites.
2.0. BACKGROUND
2.1. SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION
The PureGro Company operated a fertilizer-warehouse facility at the site until 1992. The site is
located in an area of low topographic relief zoned for commercial.use in the western part of
Stockton, in San Joaquin County, California.
One building of approximately 10,000-square feet is located near the northern portion of the
property.A small paved parking area is located north of the building. The remaining portion of the
'N site is unpaved. The USTs were formerly located east of the building.
2.2. REGIONAL GEOLOGICAL/HYDROGEOLOGICAL SETTING
The subject site is located in the central portion of the Great Valley geomorphic province of
California. The valley is-a nearly flat lying, elongate trough trending northwest and-southeast for
approximately 450 miles. The valley is enclosed by the granitic'Siena Nevada Mountains on the east
and the sedimentary and metamorphic Franciscan Coast Range''on the west. The surficial and upper
several thousand feet of subsurface layers.consist primarily of unconsolidated and consolidated
alluvial and flood plain sheet deposits (predominantly sand, silt, and clay) of Quaternary age, which
were derived from the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Beneath the upper sedimentary deposits lies a thick
sequence of marine deposits of Mesozoic age, which in turn are underlain by a pre-Jurassic complex
