L !
McLaren Environmental Engineering 7-1 5
i
APR 4 1989
April 3, 1989 [
I-{ J
'EA TI
Ms. Diane Hinson
San Joaquin Local Health District
1601 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95201
Dear Ms. Hinson:
FORD NEW HOLLAND PRELIMINARY REPORT ADDENDUM
Introduction
This addendum to the October 1988 Ford New Holland Preliminary Report sets
forth a workplan for further site assessment at the Ford New Holland
dealership located at 2150 West Charter Way, Stockton-, California.
Additional site assessment work is proposed based on the results of the
initial site assessment, which was performed on November 18 through
November 21, 1988, as described in the January 1989 Ford New Holland Site
Assessment Report. Four soil borings which were completed as shallow
groundwater monitor wells, MW-1 through MW-4, have been drilled at the
locations shown in Figure 1. As described in the January 1989 Site
Assessment Report, results reported for TPH and TVA analyses of soil
samples collected from the borings show no detectable concentrations of
these compounds. Results of TPH and TVA analyses of groundwater samples
taken from the four monitor wells and results of organic lead and EDB
analyses from MW-1 show no detectable concentrations of these compounds.
However, since the soil and groundwater samples collected by Trace
Analysis following tank removal showed elevated concentrations of
petroleum hydrocarbons and related aromatic compounds beneath the former
tank site, as described in the October 1988 Preliminary Report and in the
January 1989 Site Assessment Report, additional site assessment work is
proposed.
Proposed Additional Site Assessment Work
Additional site assessment work is proposed to evaluate the presence of
elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons and related chemicals
in soil and groundwater within the tank excavation and in the tank
excavation spoils. To confirm soil conditions within the tank excavation,
four sidewall soil samples will be collected and analyzed for total
petroleum hydrocarbons by EPA Method 8015 (modified) and for volatile
aromatic compounds by EPA Method 8020. The samples will be taken at 18
11101 White Rock Road, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670(916) 638-3696
