f
i
I:
li r
Laboratory data sheets for these analyses are !,included in Appendix 1.
Benzene Toluene Xylenes
Sample Number, Type TVH (ppb) TEH (ppb) (p!pb) (ppb) (ppb)
#1, Water 11' 240,000 930,000 3'.,000 23000 40,000
i•' #2, Soil - 10' 920,000 12,000,000 43,000 - 170,,000 180,000
The relatively high total hydrocarbon and benzene, toluene and xylene {
concentrations in the water samples exceed generally accepted solubility
limits and likely reflect the presence of fuel globules on the water or y
emulsified product in the water. As such, the water sample would not
likely reflect groundwater conditions away from the source area unless a
free product plume exists.
During tank removal operations Mr. William Snavely, Registered Sanitarian,
from the San Joaquin Local Health District (SJLHD)
was on-site. An
Underground Storage Tank Unauthorized Release . (Leak)/Contamination Site
Report was filed by Mr. Snavely on February 9, ,;1988. The tank excavation
has not been backfilled, pending further site assessment work as set forth
herein.
SITE CONDITIONS
On September 21, 1988 McLaren Environmental!'j. Engineering conducted an
initial site visit at the. Stockton Ford Nlew Holland dealership to
determine:
II
Soil and groundwater conditions at tte site and in surrounding
areas;
Proximity of private and municipal wells;
i
Proximity of septic tanks; j.
i
Locations of utilities on-site; and
i
Proposed soil boring and monitor well ,locations.
The site visit included: 1) Field inspection and meeting with Charles
Iker, General Manager of the Stockton Ford New Holland, Inc. dealership;
r2) Identification of land use on surrounding ppperties; 3) Contact with
L•' the San Joaquin Local Health Department; 4) Contact with the local Flood
Control District; and 5) Telephone communication with California Water
Service.
The Stockton Ford New Holland site is located in a broad, flat area at an
elevation of approximately five feet above mean sea level (MSL) . The site
is underlain by late Pleistocene coarse to fine-grained, unconsolidated
sediments that have accumulated in a flood plain - overbank environment.
{
4 ''
