After review of
these reports and our file on the site, I have a concern regarding',the quantity of contaminated soil
left in place.°
According to your June 1990 Site Remediation Report, the tank pit was overexcavated on 21
February 1990. The pit was enlarged in all directions except towards the east wall, which showed 7
parts-per million (ppm) total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline'1(TPH-G). However, the report
failed to provide the extent of contamination. Please determine how much contaminated soil was
left in place, the mass balance of gasoline remaining in this soil, and explain why the contaminated I
soil was left in place. When I have received this information I can complete the site closure
assessment. I have enclosed a checklist which may assist you.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 255-3119.
Iw .._.
JEFF BRAUNSTEIN
Project Engineer, Underground Tanks Unit
I t• cc: iMargaret Lagorio, San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Stockton
it .- • _ .. .. .. ._ - -.
I
i
I j
+ i
