Ms. Margaret Lagorio
August 27, 1991
Page 3
under chain-of-custody protocols to McLaren/Hart Analytical Laboratory (a
State-certified laboratory) for analysis. Samples will be analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons (TPH) by EPA Method (modified) 8015 and total volatile aromatic
compounds (TVA) by EPA Method 8020.
Field headspace measurements will be completed after samples collected for
laboratory analysis have been properly preserved. Head space analyses will be
completed on materials extruded from a sample sleeve into a Ziplocm bag. After
the materials are extruded into the bag, the bag will be sealed and placed in the sun
for approximately five minutes to allow soil to equilibrate with the head space in the
bag. Volatile organic compound concentrations will be measured with a
photoionization detector (PID).
Soil materials encountered in the boring will be logged in accordance with the
Unified Soil Classification System. Results of visual or olfactory observations for
petroleum hydrocarbon contamination and headspace measurements will also be
recorded on the boring log.
Proposed Monitoring Well Construction Diagram
Since the proposed downgradient well will be placed in the vicinity of MW-2, it is
anticipated that construction details for the proposed well will be similar to those of
MW-2. A copy of the Soil Boring Log for existing monitoring well MW-2, including
details of construction for that well, is attached. If subsurface conditions are
significantly different from those encountered in MW-2, construction details may
require modification.
Underground Utilities Site Map
A site map showing underground utilities identified at the site is attachment. No
underground utilities have been identified in the vicinity of the proposed
downgradient well. In addition, in accordance with McLaren/Hart standard
operating procedures, just prior to well construction, Underground Service Alert
(USA) will be asked to perform a utility clearance.
P
Laren
art
