Liquid and dry farm chemicals were stored on the property in a warehouse
building by the Helena Chemical Company. Liquid fertilizers had been stored in three bulk tanks formerly located
in the northwest portion of the property. The three bulk tanks were removed prior to 2002. This Workplan is based
on the findings of our Phase I Environmental Site Assessment of the property dated July 24, 2013. In that report, a
2002 soil investigation in which elevated concentrations of Nitrate, Ammonia and Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN),
were documented in the northwest portion of the property in the vicinity of the former bulk tanks. Note:
Organophosphate, organochlorine and total petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected during that investigation.
As a result of that investigation, a recommendation to define the horizontal and vertical extent of the compounds of
concern was made, and Andersen reiterated the recommendation in our Phase I report. As such, the scope of work
detailed below is designed to provide the recommended information, to determine whether the contaminants of
concern (Ammonia,Nitrate, and TKN) have migrated down to the shallow groundwater beneath the property, and
finally whether remediation of the contaminated media is warranted.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
1. Project Management/Permitting
a. Provide project management of tasks completed by Andersen Environmental and its subcontractors.
b.
