21 March 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0114
3.3. COLLECTION OF SOIL GAS SAMPLES
Based on the site soil and ground water data,AGE will advance fifteen soil gas probe-borings to a
depth of 35 feet bsg, collecting- soil gas samples at depths of 20 and 35 feet bsg to delineate the
lateral extent of contaminated soil; if additional probe borings are required for delineation, the
sampling location will be approved by the CVRWQCB prior to additional work.
The collected soil gas samples will be analyzed for:
• Chlorinated hydrocarbons(including PCE/,Cis-1,2 DCA and vinyl chloride) and BTEX by
EPA Method 8260
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as stoddard solvents (TPH-ss) by EPA Method
8015 Modified.
All sampling tools and probe rods used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean
water after washing with a solution of Alconox, if appropriate.
3.4. REPORT PREPARATION
Following the additional site investigation, a report will be prepared presenting the findings. The
report will include a description of work performed and the results of the soil/groundwater sampling
and analysis;conclusions and recommendations will also be included. The report will be in a format
acceptable to CVRWQCB guidelines, and will be reviewed and signed by a California Registered
Geologist.
4.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
Procedures for boring advancement, soil-gas sampling and monitoring well installation and
monitoring procedures are outlined below. All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE
representative under the supervision of a California Registered Geologist.
4.1. PILOT BORINGS AND MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
Monitoring well pilot borings will be advanced utilizing a truck-mounted, hollow-stem drill rig
equipped with 8.25-inch diameter hollow-stem augers. Cuttings generated during drilling activities
and rinseate will be containerized in properly labeled DOT-approved 55-gallon drums, and stored
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Lu.
