6) Concerning the revision of the monitoring program, Pseudomonas, anaerobic
bacteria, fecal coliform bacteria, and breakdown products are likely to be present in
detectable quantities in the soil currently. In order to obtain background data,
additional drilling/sampling would have to be performed, which would cause a delay
in the start-up by at least 60 days, or cancellation of the project altogether.
As we have always recognized the important need to clean up the site in a timely manner,
it is most unfortunate that these concerns only come to light a few days before the
scheduled inoculation (start-up). This has added a considerable cost and expense to the
Geweke's, who of course, have not in any way contributed to the underlying contamination.
Your assistance in a resolution to these concerns is appreciated.
Sincerely,
GEOLOGICAL AUDIT SERVICES, INC.
9 / 1'
Bob Marty
Project Manager
cc: Mark Geweke - GLDM
Jim DeMera - Mullen, Sullivan & Newton
