.-0-24-1991 14:29 FROM FES41OVATO TO 12094640138 P.04
•
PES Environmental, Inc.
Executive Summary
Draft Final Remedial Plan
September 24, 1991
Page 2
the downgradient portion of the site and aligned with the axis of the hydrocarbon plume.
Calculations indicate that the capture zone developed while pumping the extraction well at
approximately 2 gallons per minute is sufficient to control the hydrocarbon plume, Carbon
treatment was selected because it is a proven technology, is relatively simple to install and
operate, and is cost effective. The recommended remedial alternative is estimated to have a
capital cost of $132,250 and a net present value of $219,285 assuming 10 years of operation
and maintenance. The schedule for the proposed remedial alternative indicates that
approximately seven months are required for implementation.
Under current site conditions, the risks to human health and the environment posed by the
hydrocarbon contaminated soil and groundwater at the 16 South Cherokee Lane site are
insignificant. The land overlying the contaminated area is paved and there are no industrial
or domestic uses of groundwater from the shallow aquifer at or adjacent to the site.
Although an exposure pathway would result from the implementation of the remedial
altemative, the exposure to air emissions from extracted groundwater and/or contact with
contaminated groundwater would be very limited.
k0bylOpp- Xk .vp5
