13 December 1995
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0109
4.4. ADDITION OF AMMONIUM NITRATE AND HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
TO GROUND WATER
Upon completion of the treatability test performed by Mr. Kaufman, specific volumes and
concentrations of nutrients will be calculated. A waste discharge permit or waiver will be obtained
before application of nutrients to ground water.
1. Obtain desired volumes of ammonium nitrate and hydrogen peroxide for nutrient
supplementation. The solution will be diluted to desired concentration.
2. Add nutrients to ground water using monitoring wells MW-8, MW-9, MW-14 and EW-1.
Nutrients will be added in four stages at approximately 1 month intervals.
3. Collect ground water samples on a monthly basis for physicochemical analysis. Results of
analyses will be used to determine future nutrient supplementation.
4. Monitoring wells MW-12, MW-13 and MW-15 will be used to indicate down-gradient
migration of nutrients beyond the existing contaminant plume.
