w
3-2
Beneath the marine rocks are Paleozoic-and Mesozic-age metasediments and volcanics, and
Jurassic- and Cretaczous-age granites. These rocks contain small localized quantities of saline
water.
. Regional Groundwater Flow
The Quaternary-age and Plio-Pieistocene-age sedimentary deposits (generally below 0 feet)
supply groundwater for the Lodi a.-ea. Recharge to the regional groundwater system occurs by
d irrigation water,by percolation of the Mokelumne River,
deep percolation of rainfall and applie
and;)y subsurfac:trfow from the east. Regional groundwater movement is generally to the west
and south.
Site Geology
-^' Geology underiying the G;weke Land Development and Marketing (GDLM) site and
(Yeneral vicinity was determined from the borehole logs of the four monitoring wells installed
during this investigation and the borcILOte logs from the previous investigations (MW-1 through
MW-5). Copies of the borehole logs from this investigation are included in this report as
Appendix D. The borehole logs from previous investigations can be found in J.H. Kleinfelder's
Inc.,December 2, 1935, Groundwater Monitoring Report and BCC's April 16, 1986, Final Site
Investigation Report. The GLDM sit,: is underlain by an interbedded sequence of sand, silty
sands and clayey sands with intermi'tent lenses of silt, and clay. The location of cross sections
A-A'acrd B-B' are shown on Figure 3-1,and Figures 3-2,and 3-3 are generalized geologic cross
sections showing the upper 60 to 70 feet of sediment beneath the GDLM site. These cross
sections also present groundwater elevations from July 17, 1990,measuremeats,soil sample depth
intervals and total petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations.
