x
i
4-5
t
limit of 5 mg/kg. The sample collected from 50 fent in Mme'-"o contained 7 mg/kg petroleum
hydrocarbons. The samples collected from 10 feet and 50 feet in MW-9 contained 6 mg/kg,and
100 mg/kg petroleum hydrocarbons, respectively.
• Other Soil Analytical Results, One composite soil sa:-iple was collected from the
approximately four cubic yards of soil stockp:led at the site. This sample is a composite of soil
• from four distinct locations in the stockpile which was combinzd in the field and stored in a glass
sampling jar with a teflon lined screw-on top. the composite sample (spoil composite) was
w analyzed for 13ETX and TPH using EPA Method 5015 with extraction by EPA Method 5030.
Analytical results of this sample indicate that none of the tested constituents were present n
:drIntMablr amounts based on the same detection limits as the borehole samples.
Groundwater Results
This section presents the field and analytical results of groundwater samples collected from
the nine monitoring wells at the site (Figure 3-4). On May 2, 1990,MW-I through MI's-5 were
redeveloped and sampled as described in Brown and Caldwefl's March 10, 1990, Work Plan
W. (Appendix A). .Wells MW-6 through MW-9 (newly installed) were eeveloped and sampled
during the week of July 2, 1990. The groundwater samples were analyzed for BE
TX and TPH
using EPA Method 8015 with extraction by Method 5030.
During purging in each well, field me:!surements of pH,electrical conductivity, and volume
of water were recorded. Table 4-3 presents these recorded measurements. These parameters air.
monitored to ensure that representative samples are collected from each well.
The groundwater samples collected from MW-6 through MW-9 were inadvertently held
approximately 4 days beyond the recommended holding time of 14 days prior to analysis by the
laboratory. The samples were submitted to the laboratory within four days of collection,
therefore the holding time expired when the samples were in a controlled laboratory environment.
The recommended holding time for this type of analysis is 14 days if preserved with HCl
