(PES) is pleased to present this work plan to Geweke Land
Development and Marketing (GLDM) for performing additional soil and groundwater
investigations at the GLDM property located on 16 South Cherokee Lane in Lodi, California
(Plate 1). This work plan is designed in part to satisfy the requests expressed in the January
15, 1991 California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region
(RWQCB) letter to GLDM. PES believes that an effective interim groundwater extraction
r and treatment system can not be designed until aquifer properties and groundwater chemistry
are defined. Consequently, the design drawings for an interim groundwater remediation
system are not included in this work plan. The preliminary design of an interim groundwater
extraction, treatment, and disposal system will be submitted as soon as the proposed
' additional groundwater characterization work is completed.
E
l>l
BACKGROUND
PES understands that Geweke Land Development and Marketing (GLDM) owns the property
at 16 South Cherokee Le and that the property was formerly a Gas-N-Save service station.
Lane
Two 10,000 gallon and one 6,000 fuel storage tanks, and one 1.000 gallon waste oil tank
were removed from the site in 1985. The locations of the former tanks are shown on Platz
. 1.
in 1985, the San Joaquin Environmental Health Department (SJEHD) required GLDM to
perform a site investigation to assess subsurface conditions in the vicinity of the 1.000-gallon
waste. oil tank. GLDM contracted with Meinfeider Associates (KA) to instali four
montoring wells and to collect soil and groundwater samples for chemical analysis. Wells
MW-1 through MW-4 were drilled to a depth of approximately 60 feet below ground surface
i bgs) and were completed with approximately 20 feet of 2-inch diameter 0.0,20-slotted
polvvinyi chloride(PVC) casing and approximateiv 4O feet of 2-inch diameter PVC blank
I'' a, . o.vcrr•Mv.vva
P O.Box 1813• 100 Mom=Plaza•Novato.CA 94948 J415)898-3531 • FAX('115)898.2780
