13 April 1993
(GeoAudit-1. 33)
11) Auger returns and soil sample duplicates will be logged in
accordance with the Unified Soil Classification system.
12) Borings in which contamination is encountered will be
completed as 4-inch diameter vadose zone remediation wells.
The wells will be screened with 4-inch slotted PVC casing in
the contaminated zone (s) . Monterey sand will be used as the
filter pack and the wells will be backfilled with Portland
' Cement and/or bentonite chips. Well heads will be secured with
a traffic rated well box and lid.
13) Auger returns will be placed in DOT approved drums and stored
' on-site pending analytical results.
14) Preparation of a written report summarizing the results in a
' format to be submitted to the CVRWQCB and the PHS/EHD. The
report will be signed by a California Registered Geologist.
If a monitoring- well north and up-gradient of MW-6 is needed, the
following procedures will be followed:
15) Using a truck-mounted drilling rig with hollow stem augers,
drill (1) pilot boring north and up-gradient of MW-6. The
approximate location is illustrated on Figure 2 .
' 16) The pilot boring will be completed as a 2-inch diameter
groundwater monitoring well in accordance with the well design
illustrated on Figure 3. The well will be developed using a
' surge block.
17) The monitoring well will be surveyed relative to existing
wells.
' 18) No sooner than 48 hours after completion of the well, measure
the static water level in the well. The well will be purged
' and after temperature, pH and conductivity have stabilized, a
single water sample will be collected. The purge water will be
stored on-site in DOT approved drums.
' 19) The water sample will be analyzed for TPH as gasoline, BTE&X,
volatile halocarbons, total lead and ethylenedibromide (EDB)
in accordance with DHS method 8015m and EPA methods 602 , 601,
' 7421 and AB 1803 , respectively.
20) Preparation of a report summarizing the monitoring well
installation and analytical results in conjunction with
quarterly monitoring of the existing wells.
