1
' 1.0 INTRODUCTION
Aser Cleanu and Abatement Order No. 90-702 issued b the
' Reg"ional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region
(CRWQCB) , SUN TECH ENVIRONMENTAL, INC. (SUN TECH) , has
performed Quarterly Monitoring for Mr. Jeff Werner, at the
' Geweke Land Development and Marketing GLDM) property,
located at 16 South Cherokee Lane, Lodi, California.
This Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report has been
' prepared by SUN TECH, as required by the San Joaquin County
Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(SJEHD) .
' This report outlines the results of the groundwater sampling
performed by SUN TECH on October 1, 1992 at the above
mentioned site.
' 1.1 SITE DESCRIPTION
The subject property located at '16 South Cherokee Lane, Lodi,
' California, was once the site of a Gas-N-Save service
station, but is currently the location of the Geweke Car
Capitol, a used car dealership (Figures 1 and 2) .
' 1.2 PREVIOUS WORK
One 1 ,000 gallon waste oil tank, and two 10,000 gallon, and
one 6 ,000 gallon fuel storage tanks were removed from the
subject property in 1985.
As required by the SJEHD, a subsurface site investigation was
' initiated at the subiect property in 1985 . Kleinfelder and
Associates were retained to perform the investigation, and
four monitoring wells were installed (MW-1, 2, 3 and 4 ) to
assess the subsurface conditions at the site (Figure 2 ) .
' The results of the investigation indicated that petroleum
hydrocarbons were present in subsurface soils (concentration
up to 214 .5 parts per million [ppm] TPH-Gasoline [TPH-G] ,
' 7 .67 ppm Benzene, 37.9 ppm Toluene, 29 . 9 ppm Ethylbenzene,
and 11 ppm Xylenes) as well as groundwater (concentrations up
to 46. 2 ppm TPH-G, 0 .74 ppm Benzene, 0. 624 ppm Toluene, and
' 1.. 75 ppm Xylenes) .
In February 1986 , Brown and Caldwell (BC) , were retained by
GLDM to further define the vertical and lateral extent of
' hydrocarbon contamination at the site. Five soil borings
were drilled at this time (GL-1 through GL-5) . Petroleum
hydrocarbons were not detected in GL-1 and GL-4 , however,
low concentrations of hydrocarbon contamination was
' encountered in GL-5 (<25 ppm TPH-G, and <2 ppm Benzene,
Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylene) . Higher levels of
hydrocarbon contamination was encountered in GL-2 and GL-3
(up to 240 ppm TPH-G, up to 10 ppm toluene, and up to 32 ppm
xylenes) . (See Figure 2 for boring locations) .
' STE Project No. 4001
Page 1
