PETROLEUM HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED,GROUN. D WATER
During the December 1997 sampling event, petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in ground water.
samples three of the seven, wells sampled. TPH-g concentrations ranged from below laboratory
method detection limits.to 2,500 parts per billion.(ppb; reported as micrograms per liter):.BTE&X' ;
weie detected at concentrations as high as 180 ppb benzene, 130 ppb toluene; 55 ppb ethylbenzene, .
and 3 50 ppb xylene'§.-The highest concentrations of'each constituent were detected in.MW-14'. TPH-
g and BTE&X`were not detected inaamples collected frorn MW=6,"MW-7; MW-11 or MW_12,
during the December 1997;sampling.,Hydrocarbon. concentrations decreased in all of the wells
sampled during the.- fourth, quarter of 1997. Charts 1 - 6 (Appendix C) illustrate .benzene'
concentration verses time for monitoring wells MW-6;MW-8, MW-9, MW=10,MW-14.and,EW-1.
Tertiary butanol, was detected in`'MW-6 and MW=9' at concentrations of 6.6"ppb and 19 ppb;'
respectively..Other'oxygenated compounds were not detected in.the samplescollected during the
December '1997 sampling event. 1,2-Dichloroethane" was,,detected in MW-9 -and MW-14 at
concentrations of 20 ppb and 37 ppb, respectively. Isopropylbenzene was detected in,MW-S and
MW-9.ai concentrations of 4.9 ppb'and 14 ppb,-respectively.N-propylbenzene was detected imMW- '
8 and MW-9.at conceriirations 'of 7.7 ppb, and 15 ppb, respectively: 1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene.was
detected in MW-8, MW-9 and MW-14 at concentrations- f 41 ppb, 50 ppb.and 74 ppb,respectively.
1•,3;5-Trirnethylbenzene was detected in MW-8; MW-9 and MW7,14 at concentrations of.4.9.ppb,
15 ' b,and 17 • , b -; respectively.. Vin 1 Acetate. was detected in'MW-9 arid -MW-14 at a
PP PP y _
concentrations .of 2,9 .ppb and 11 ppb, •respectively.: N-butylbenzene; sec-butylbenzene-and
1' naphthalene were detecied':in MW-9-at concentration's of 5.3 ppb- 7.1'ppb acid 5.7;ppb,respectively.
Other analytes included in EPA. 8260 were not'detected.
Analytical results'of groundwater"samples are,summarized on-Tables 4 and 5. The laboratory report
(MAI `Laboratory;L: D.
