. 18 April 1997
AGE-NC-95-0109
remained non-detect in two wells during the first quarter of 1997. EDB was detected in the
sample from MW-14 at the reporting limit of 0.50 ppb.
• Microbiological plate counts and nutrient concentrations showed a general slight
improvement at the site during the past quarter. However, concentrations remain below
optimum for favorable microbial activity.
• A work plan for the addition of nutrient to soil and water at the site was submitted to the
CVRWQCB in December 1995. Approval for nutrient addition was obtained from the
CVRWQCB in March 1997.
• A proposal for a revised monitoring plan was submitted to the CVRWQCB in September
1996.Verbal agreement was reached in September 1996 to discontinue soil vapor monitoring
and reduce bioenurneration/physicochemical analyses. A draft Revised Monitoring and
Reporting Program No. 93-701 was issued by the CVRWQCB in March 1997.
4.2. RECOMMENDATIONS
• Based upon data collected from the site, AGE has the following recommendations:
• A waste discharge permit or waiver should be obtained and nutrient addition performed as
soon as feasible. Nutrient addition to soil should correspond to the next soil progress
sampling event;nutrient addition to ground water should be performed as soon as a discharge
permit or waiver is obtained.
• Semi-annual soil sampling should be performed as soon as the waste discharge permit or
waiver is obtained. Two borings will be installed to approximately 55 feet bsg (ground
water). Selected soil samples will be analyzed for TPH-g, BTE&X, bioenumeration and
physicochemical properties.
• The next quarterly ground water monitoring at the site will be scheduled for June 1997. In
accordance with the Revised Monitoring and Reporting Program, only monitoring wells
MW-6, MW-7, MW-8, MW-9, MW-11, MW-12 and MW-14 will be sampled during the
June 1997 monitoring event.
5.0.
