April 22, 1987 AGS 8691-6
Beacon Service Station #1-502 - Lodi, California
BACKGROUND
The station investigated contains an underground storage tank
cluster which consisted of three 10,000 gallon tanks. One of
these contained diesel fuel, and failed a precision pressure
test. This tank was subsequently removed. Samples taken below
the tank showed contamination in excess of 1,000 parts per
million. Four monitoring wells have been drilled at the site.
The locations of the tank cavity and monitoring wells are
depicted on the Generalized Site Plan, Plate P-2.
Data obtained from these wells indicates that soil contamination
is limited to the area immediately adjacent to and below the tank
cavity. Ground water has been contaminated by gasoline to levels
above action levels for drinking water established by the
California Department of Health Services.
Applied GeoSystems personnel were present on March 18, 1987 to
drill soil boring B-5 and install MW-5. Locations of this well
and previously installed monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-4 are
depicted on the attached Generalized Site Plan. MW-5 was drilled
in a location directly down-gradient from the tank cavity on
2
APP111901 GeoSystems
