April 22, 1987 AGS 8691-6
Beacon Service Station #1-502 - Lodi, California
MONITORING WELL CONSTRUCTION
Monitoring well MW-5 was installed in boring B-5. The well was
constructed using thread-jointed four inch inner diameter
schedule 40 PVC blank and slotted casing. No chemical cements,
glues, or solvents were used in well construction.
The screened portion of the well consists of factory-cut 0. 020
inch slotted screen. The well screen extends downward from
approximately 31 feet below the ground surface to total depth in
the well, approximately 61 feet below the ground surface. Blank
casing extends from the top of the screened interval to the
ground surface.
The annular space was packed with graded sand to a point
approximately twenty-seven feet below the ground surface, or four
feet above the slotted interval. A twelve-inch thick bentonite
plug was placed above the sand as a seal against cement entering
the sand pack. The remaining annulus was backfilled with neat
cement to grade. Installation of the sanitary seal was witnessed
by personnel of the San Joaquin Local Health District. A graphic
representation of well construction is shown on the right margin
of the Boring Log.
5
.4,00/ied GeoSystems
