Cherokee Lane
Lodi, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) is the
lead agency providing the oversight of the investigation and cleanup of releases from
underground storage tanks within San Joaquin County. PHS/EHD has a contract with
California State Water Resources Control Board to conduct an underground storage tank
corrective action program. The above referenced site was placed in the PHS/EHD Local
Oversight Program (LOP) in October 1990.
On September 18 1986 an underground storage tank (T#1) was removed and
soil-sample
results documented an unauthorized release of petroleum hydrocarbon (gasoline and diesel).
A site assessment was performed and gasoline was evidenced',in soil and groundwater
samples.
Soil vapor extraction wells were installed and a vapor extraction system (VES) was operated
from October 1989 until February 1993 in the tank field were'soil and groundwater
contaminated was identified. Three confirmation soil borings.were completed in April 1993
to evaluate the VES; one slant boring (SB-1) beneath exiting tanks and two vertical borings
(SB-2, SB-3). Sample results from SB-3 (north/center of tank field) identified residual
petroleum hydrocarbon contamination from 15-20 feet bgs.
On February 28, 1995 three UST's were removed and point source removal of the
contaminated soil in the area of SB-3 was performed to 26 feet bgs and confirmation samples
were collected for analyses. The results from sampling indicates no further remedial action is
warranted.
Four of the five monitoring wells with sufficient water levels were sampled on March 13,
1995. MW #245 were below detection limits for gasoline and BTEX. Groundwater results
from on site monitoring wells have been reported below detection limits since January 5,
1993.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
