.e 1
OW
f
Station No. 502, 35 N. Cherokee Lane, Lodi, - Interim Remediation Plan
rM
Performance Test/Feasibility Study
A Performance Test was conducted concurrently to determine the
feasibility of using vacuum extraction at this site. The performance
+.= test simulates operating characteristics of a vacuum extraction system
using temporary vacuum connections to the existing monitoring wells.
t „ Extraction volumes from the wells ranged from 14.0 to 20.0 standard cubic
feet per minute (scfm). The applied vacuums ranged from 2.0 to 4.5
inches of mercury. Influence vacuums ranged from 0.01 to >0.25 inches of
water. Depth to groundwater at the time of the study ranged from 51.55
to 52.60 feet. Favorable influence was measured at a distance of 55
feet. The results of the performance test indicated that soil conditions
are suitable to remediation using vacuum extraction.
INITIAL PHASE OF REMEDIATION
A successful vapor extraction system comprised of five vapor recovery
wells (VW-5, VW-6, VW-7, VW-9) and two monitoring wells (MW-2 and MW-4)
operated at this site frog 11 October 1989 to 8 November 1989. An
internal combustion engine was used for vapor abatement during this
period. The ,knit operated continuously 24 hours per day.
ern. Approximately 1,695 pounds of hydrocarbons were removed from the soi,
during this operation. Influent hydrocarbon concentrations decreased 896
from a start-up condition. of 22,500 ,ppm to 2,500 ppm at the final
monitoring. Data from this phase of remediation is summarized in Table
11 and also in Appendix B.
TABLE II - INITIAL AND FINAL VAPOR CONCENTRATIONS
Soil Vapor Extraction System
Beacon Station #502
35 North Cherokee Lane, Lodi
.11 October to 8 November 1989
Extraction Hydrocarbon Vaoor 'ancentratn y
Paint Initial (10/11/89) Final (li/08%89
.
