The site is located on the southwest corner of the <br /> intersection of North Cherokee Lane and Elm Street in Lodi, as <br /> shown on the Site Vicinity Map (Plate P-1) . This work was <br /> performed as part of an ongoing environmental investigation <br /> outlined in Applied GeoSystems' Work Plan No. 86091-3,' <br /> November 7, 1986. <br /> Several previous environmental investigations have been performed <br /> at this site. At the request of Beacon, Applied Geosystems <br /> conducted an initial Subsurface Environmental Investigation at <br /> the site in response to a failed precision leak test of a 10,000- <br /> gallon tank formerly used to store diesel (AGS Report No. <br /> 86091-3, October 28, 1986) . That tank was replaced in September <br /> 1986; two existing 10,000-gallon gasoline tanks were lined and <br /> remained in place. During a subsequent investigation, Applied <br /> GeoSystems installed four ground-water monitoring wells (MW--1 . <br /> through MW-4) at the site, and selected soil and ground-water <br /> samples were analyzed for hydrocarbon contamination-.-(AGS <br /> _._Report <br /> -- - ---- -- -- - -- o.-- 6091=-3;- dated November 7, 1986) <br /> . The results of laboratory <br /> analyses of soil samples indicated that hydrocarbon contamination <br /> was limited. to the area immediately adjacent to and below the <br /> tank cavity. Laboratory analyses of ground-water samples <br /> indicated that ground water underlying the site had been affected <br /> by gasoline contamination. In March 1987, an additional <br /> monitoring well. (MW-5) was installed downgradient to evaluate <br /> further the extent of the contamination (AGS Report. No. 86091-6, <br /> v . <br />
