At the request of Ultramar (formerly Beacon. Oil Company), we are presenting this letter
report summarizing the methods and results of the quarterly ground-water monitoring
performed by Applied GeoSystems at the subject site. The site is located on the southwest
corner of North Cherokee Lane and Elm Street in Lodi,as shown on the Site Vicinity Map
(Plate P-1). The locations of the ground-water monitoring wells relative to site facilities are
depicted on the Generalized Site Plan (Plate P-2). Previous work at the site by Applied
GeoSystems is documented in the reports cited in the attached References list..
A geologist from Applied GeoSystems visited the site on September 28, 1989,and October
11, 1989, to collect groundwater samples from the five monitoring wells for laboratory
analysis. The depth to the ground-water surface was measured and the water was analyzed
subjectively in' each monitoring well by procedures outlined in the attached Field
Procedures. The geologist noted no subjective evidence of hydrocarbon product. Results ;t
of these and previous subjective analyses are summarized in Table 1. ='
Ground water from each monitoring well was purged and sampled as outlined in the Field
Procedures. The field geologist initiated a Chain of Custody Record that accompanied the
samples to the analytical laboratory. A co
py of from the wells was stored temporrily onsite inhproperly labeled,at record is attached.
The
onp 17-E steel
dru=ns, approved for that use by the_Dep art ment._of-Transportation;-pending-removal -
-- - --- —
y Mobile Chem Labs, Inc., in Lafayette, California (r:azardous Waste Testing Laboratory
Certificate No. 195), analyzed the ground-water samples for total petroleum hydrocarbons
(TPH) as gasoline by California Department of Health Services Leaking Underground
-_'Fuel Tanks (L IC'm--"hod and`for-'ben-zenc,-trod nnei a4 q b nze e
_ ..... ...h,,I_..___n_, and..total xylene
'y
